Samsung to Spend US$4 Billion on Existing Chip Plant in Texas

Samsung announced on August 21, 2012 that the company plans to invest US$4 billion in updating a chip producing line at its chip plant located in Austin, Texas, according to a report by Reuters. Besides renovating the current facilities, Samsung also aims to boost production of ARM-based chips used in tablets and Smartphones. Samsung previously announced in June this year that the company will build a new logic chip plant in Korea with an attempt to better serve its customers.
